I have a Marantz SA-10 CD player and I am really pleased I made that decision. However, I can not help but wonder If anyone here thinks that the Marantz SACD-10 player is actually $4,000 better than a SA-10. And why? Inquiring minds want to know.
I had a SA-KI Ruby. They share the same transport. I am on my third Marantz. I have never had a problem with a Marantz SACD-CD player. The SACD-10 does sound good, indeed, very good, but it should.
Understood. Marantz transports are very good no question. I believe PS Audio uses them also, but if I am not mistaken the one in the new SACD that you have is new and better than the ones used in anything before. Also, the DAC is new and better. Somebody who has heard them both and who does not sell them or have an economic stake in the discussion would be good to converse with. Eventually an evaluation will emerge no doubt.
The transport system in the Marantz has remained the same since the Ruby and the SA-10. Wadax, dcs, McIntosh, PS Audio and others use them. At least two of the reviews of the SACD-10 have stated this.
The Marantz transport that you are referring to regafan is out of production. The one in your SACD-10 is new and different I believe. I am inferring this from comments made by Paul McGowan of PS Audio. Anyway the question here remains unanswered: How does the SACD-10 perform compared to the SA-10? Anybody?
