Rega P3 RS, Michell TecnoDec, Avid Ingenium

I sold off my audio system several years ago after having lost my dedicated listening room to a home renovation (thaaaaat's right smiley).  I'm looking to build a new system at a relatively modest level and have been researching turntables in the $2000-$2500 range.  The three I've been most focused on are the Rega P3 RS, the Michell TecnoDec and the Avid Ingenium.  Needless to say it's difficult to listen to all of these turntables in person without traveling around the country, so I was hoping to tap into the collective knowledge of the forum.  If anyone has any opinions on how these turntables compare then I'd love to hear them.  

For reference, I've owned a Planar 3/RB300 in the distant past and really enjoyed it.  I subsequently went to a Linn LP12, then a VPI Aries/SDS/JMW-10 and finally a Basis 2500 Signature/Vector 3.  So, yeah, I'm kind of going backwards at this point but I've given myself a realistic budget and just want something relatively affordable and simple so that I can enjoy my LPs again.

What cartridge(s) are you thinking about? 

What Phono Stage?

Do you have any/many Mono LPs?

MM and/or MC, need a SUT?

I suspect you will hear differences from those parts of playback more readily than differences in the TT itself.

I recommend you get a Tonearm with both removable headshell, and verify it has arm height adjustment. Better, have the potential to add a second arm and have Stereo and Mono ready to play any second.

Rega starts with low profile 14mm high cartridge bodies, on fixed/no height adjustment arms, the least flexible.

Pre-selected cartridges____?

I highly recommend the Luxman PD444 that I helped a friend with

I earlier went with a JVC Victor Two Arm Plinth CL-P2, then squeezed a 3rd compact arm on it

The Luxman has an A/B switch to select which arm, I found a SUT with 3 selectable inputs

The demo system in one audio salon will always be different from that in any other salon, so even if you could and would travel to listen to the various options, you’ll still have to make a “leap of faith”. So take a deep breath and leap. It’s not life and death.

I have a pet peeve about dust covers on when not in use to protect against air borne contaminants, the inflexible Rega comes with one, are they optional or do you need custom for the other models you mentioned?
