Research for subwoofer

I have Bryston model T bookshelf speakers connected to a Luxman 509 that plays high res "Qbuz" music, jazz, pop, classical. ETC.   I am considering agreeing a sub but would like some opinions of what might work well with this set up.  The sub would have to go on the floor, could be powered or not.  Would like to build more of a stage with additional bass.

Thoughts?

Thanks Dave

Gonna have to agree that that’s a pretty significant discontinuity between quality of amp vs. speakers.  There are no absolute rules, but it’s probably more common to spend more on speakers than on an amp.  You can get pretty awesome amps for under $5k, but really hard to do same with speakers.  I’d address that issue before investing in subs.

add my 2 cents

pair of rel t9i or t9x - use the high level connection... a pair of them would be ideal in your larger open plan room

RSL 12S. A pair would be magical and have been for me. I have owned many brands and models of subs over the years. My best, MrD.

My experience so far -

SVS - Reachable and happy to discuss.   Recommended SB300 for my set-up in my price range and suggest full power speaker connections were the best

Rhythmic - Only E-mail- Suggested the F18s which is out of my range  (I did give them a range) Suggested that the best hookup for their product was Pre Out off the Luxman

REL - Sent E-mail, Phoned every day and left messages for Jacob. Which is who their system directs you to.  No luck at all
