New to this hobby please help me

@wizzard you  have to use the @ and then the name of member to tag someone. Sometimes you have to try a few times for it to catch.

To quote another member, click on the quotation marks which are located at the opposite end of the Bold and italicized options. This will then appear to indent the sentences you are quoting, typically from a copy and paste. Hit return twice to end the content you’re quoting.

My $.02. Get the GoldenEars and don't look back. They're that good. They also are very well made and I think the red looks amazing for the price. Your Marantz sr5011  is more than powerful enough as the T66 are fairly efficient speakers at 91 db. And all it would power is the mids/highs as the bass is handled by the internal amp and sub. The "technical" side of me could complain of their slightly elevated treble region shown in testing, but having heard them, it's not fatiguing. 

Don't let audiophiles douse water on your choice by telling you to "learn" how to hear. If they sound good to you, that's all that matters. Most of us are upsold on crap we don't need by someone good at sales pitches. "Listen for XXX" or "did you notice the veil that was lifted?". I've been a working musician, in and out of studios for 30 years. I hear in frequency response, linearity, and distortion much like Neo in the Matrix sees people. Lines and graphs. I've never heard any serious professional producer talk about "holographic soundstage". 

Hello all The t66 golden ears are in my living room !!!! absolutely sounding great ! My marantz SR 5011 seems to be working fine so far with these speakers despite comments that it won’t work,  However i’m assuming a better amp will produce even better sound yes no maybe ?? Thanks for all the great responses so far

@wizzard  I’m glad you like them! What color? I’ve had Triton 7s, Triton 2s, still have SuperSat 60s and 3s as well as 4 SuperSub X in my TV room. They are fantastic speakers so fear not. Your SR5011 is more than enough for the T66. It’s only driving the highs and mids as the bass and LFE are handled by the internal subs.

Save that money for some room treatments or some SuperSat 3s for surround and height channels. Enjoy!
