Research for subwoofer

I have Bryston model T bookshelf speakers connected to a Luxman 509 that plays high res "Qbuz" music, jazz, pop, classical. ETC.   I am considering agreeing a sub but would like some opinions of what might work well with this set up.  The sub would have to go on the floor, could be powered or not.  Would like to build more of a stage with additional bass. 

Thoughts?

I am using the Rel Tx9 se with the upgraded blue bass line Speakon cable. If you run it off the speaker posts the sub is seamless and places the bass in proper position of soundstage. They are not artificial sounding and will even improve the bookshelf speakers.

Thx Current plan is to talk with REL, SVS and Rhythmik.  See what they recommend for each of their products given my setup.  REL def has strong support here.

I’ll add another vote for REL. They do take a bit more effort to set up because there’s no built-in DSP like some (Martin Logan, Paradigm, SVS), but I’ve not heard a better sub for 2-channel music. Very fast and tight and incredible blending. I’m currently running a REL HT/1510 4-pack in a mixed 2-channel music/multi-channel movie system. Will likely go full 6-pack up front eventually. Since your system is for music, I’d agree with the previous suggestions for a pair of T/9x.

Excellent plan!  Also read reviews of each if you haven’t already, and let us know how it goes/what you learn.
