New to this hobby please help me
Hi all i’m unsure on what speakers to get i have a marantz sr5011 my budget is 4,000 for floor standing speakers. I found a local deal on some golden ear technology t66 the red ones for$3800. But how do i pick without the ability to listen to other brands kef sonus faber etc!! Is golden ear even good what suggestions do you have on hearing lots of brands under one roof. My listening is 50 percent music 50 percent movies.
OP: goldenear t66, what is stuck in your head? the deal, or did you hear them? and instantly love them? Is it possible they sounded far better than your existing? That's great, but maybe many other speakers would have the same improvement, even sound better, in any case even work better with your existing AVR. What's stuck in your head? |
@fiesta75 Sorry but I have to disagree. Around 2000, I bought a pair of JBL bookshelf speakers and they were the worst speakers I’ve ever heard. They were bright, flat and made a lot of rattling noise. Fortunately the store took them back. Then I found a pair of Monitor Audio GS 10’s for the same price and they were much much better. |
@fiesta75 Sorry, I forgot to mention that I have heard very good sounding JBL's but those were flagship speakers. I believe its tricky to pick out good sounding JBL's from not so good sounding JBL's without the ability to hear them first. |
