My streamer doesn't have a good fantom centerDSP

@mswale I test drove a Mytek Btooklyn 2 DAC forbfew days. To me it sounded forward and a bit “processed”. At the time I was shopping for a new DAC. I had in hand: Chord Qutest, Myrek Brooklyn 2, Bryston BDA-3.14. 
Bryston was the smoothest DAC but the Qutest was a nice compromise. I didn’t like the Mytek at all. 
I really do not think that it would be a good fit for your system with vintage gear and you being used to good analog sound. 
 

I would look at R2R DACs that TMR has in used inventory. You get a 30 day return policy but there’s a 5% restocking fee on used equipment. 
 

Let me see what they have as a one piece streaming dac solution. .

This will be a great sounding DAC but…The USB card in these units is not compatible with modern linux based streamers. You will be forced to use coax. Also, you need to make sure that the streamer you’re using can output 24/192 via coax. The ARC DAC can accept 44 to 192 on the coax input. Based on your mxn10 manual…Digital Coax and Optical outputs support a maximum of 192kHz 32bit, up to DSD64

Other options - they have a few Denafrips Pontus DACs. These are R2R DACs. Honestly I would pick ARC. 

My new subs came in the other day. Had to rewire everything up. Put in some temporary speaker wire, as my current ones will not work. Moved some power cables around. 

Spent the entire day listening to music to get the subs dialed in. Used all my sources, listened on my streamer for around 4 hours. 

My system had been on and running (usually keep it all powered off when not in use) for around 10 hours total, at moderate volume 75db. 

Weirdly, the center image was there the entire time. Some songs were holographic, and 3d. I was kind of blown away by how good it was sounding. Never has my setup sounded this good. 

Was it the new subs? Was it the new cables? Was it moving all the power cables around? Was it that everything was fully warmed up? Was I paying attention too much?

My system, at my profile, yields incredible soundstage with the music a tipuslly not seeming to come from the speakers at all, but from a Three-dimensional bubble surrounding the speakers.  My dog, when some of the music bothers him, goes to the couch behind and between the speakers to bark at it, not at the speakers.

i had a very good system, but three things over several years brought it to another level, well four, no five things : 1) I replacing my Schiit Bifrost 2/64 with the Schiit Gungnir2; 2) I  replacing my tube power amp with monobloc solid state amplifiers with double the power; 3) replacing my Mogami custom speaker cables with Silversmith Fideliums (3 ft long); 4) adding two Rythmik servo subwoofers, and 5) replacing my iPad Pro for streaming with the Innuous Stream 1 with the LPS1 power supply and the Phoenix USB output module.

Each step made a significant difference, in my case the Fideliums speaker cables, the Innuous streamer, and the more powerful solid state mono bloc amps making the most significant improvements.  Given my advancing years, I think I am pretty much at end state, but I do not listen at exceptionally high volume levels … just moderately loud … after the point the music “opens up.”
