Who here continues to regularly use a CD player?

Still on subject….just.

”Better parts” more often than not (so you are in good company) just don’t get the hi-fi thing. A mental blockage. However, do a count up of how many pairs of shoes, coats and handbags you can find. In all probability more accessories than can possibly be worn out in a lifetime. No difference to a lifetimes worth of collecting.

CDs, like clothes can fall out of fashion and a good excuse to buy new ones, like shoes, coats and handbags. Tell it what it is next time you feel pushback with your hobby. I would not ever suggest you saying that music is your first love, even if it’s true.

Keep the CDs and LPs spinning, it just makes sense. Music doesn’t change but people do. At least you can rely on the music to not dump you.

Right there with you on that one. One of the finest record decks of the 80s. All that has ever been required is a regular oil change and new belt. It was that good from the start, no upgrades required!
A deck like that keeps you wanting to carry on playing those records. Curious to know what arm and cartridge you have mounted.

I stream about 90% of the time.  I would love to spin more CDs and records, but unfortunately I can’t due to physical limitations.

I Still use CD's.  SACD and Blu Ray as well.  The Blu ray especially as they can be high sampling (audio only or outstanding video concerts).   Still using  the OPPO 205 I was fortunate to get.  I have a Kenwood Elite CD player in two of my Trucks and I can watch DVD video concerts (listen!) while in my vehicles with killer audio.  

I am using my CDT less and less these days.  While I have ripped a few hundred disks, I have a few thousand more.  I really should rip more and move on, but between what I have ripped and streaming,  I’m not seeing any urgency to do so.

Well As the Cheap Audio Man (YouTube) says...It's part of the richual ..Handling the CD or Vinal ..lifting the dust cover for your record  or ejecting the tray to insert you disc. Then setting the knobs on your Vintage Hi Fi Receiver or separates and getting ready to sit back and enjoy the sound. 

One of the problems is ..most Mfg's have removed the balance controls and the Loudness button and treble and Mid and Bass Knobs. Som equipment may give you a remote which might have these controls. A lot do not. 

No more pretty Blue "VU" meters signal indicators ..power output meters ..Etc. Now you get a shiny Black Box with a power switch and a Volume control.

Or you get one of those fire hazard Tube amps with High voltage that can kill you.

Of course I joke. I'm still an old vintage Hi Fi guy who Plays CD's through my Marantz Separates. And my 4th order Butterworth tuned  4 Sentry III ported speakers.

What must be taken into account is that everyone hears differently as you also see color differently.Our paly back rooms are different, The acoustic treatment and speaker placement is all different depending on our other half. The source material is all not recorded the same. The CD master makers are all different...and so on.

So what's it all comes down to? YOU. whatever sounds best to you is the system and method of device you play it on. There is no such thing as the perfect sound. 

I know what real live sound ....sounds like. I worked with Frank Sinatra and have stood in front not 15 feet away from a 43 piece orchestra during rehearsal . That is Real Live sound at concert level.

So enjoy what you have and Turn it up.
