Is ASR for real, or is it only for those sub $1k or even sub $2K?

I did some browsing on the forum and it seems like most don't own very expensive gears.  Most of them own mostly sub 1K or 2K gears.

I recently ask about feedback on the Polk R700 but after about a month with no responds.  I did a search "ASR Polk R700", with all but one poster which actually owned a pair.  Most of them would point you to some measurement and some theoretical discussion but non actually own a pair.

I also looked at a few posts on budget speakers such as the Kef Q7 or Polk R600, but I didn't see any actual owners responding.

I don't mean to knock on them but ASR seems like a lot of hype but very little substance.

The badges should state Audio Science Scientist, preferably abbreviated as ASS.

If i can the see the ASS badge from 12 feet away, that would be a good thing at the shows.

Capital Audiofest coming up!   Any ASR'ers going?   I bet so.  Can we get them to wear a label/badge of dishonor, as any good heretic should, so we know who is who?    A Scarlett Letter?  Can't be an "A".   That's for the heretic and obsessed audiophiles in attendance.

@toronto416 Measurements alone during an autopsy won’t tell you how the patient felt when they were alive!

It’s funny you should say this. A japanese master amplifier builder once said that measurements in audio are like an x-ray - they might be full of objective data but they can’t tell you the person’s personality.

The relation between electronical engineering of audio gear must be related to physical acoustics with speakers  case for example via psycho-acoustics and room acoustic properties....

But nevermind the set of measures from electrical to the physical acoustics one, the psycho-acoustics measures also are necessary... not only the general psycho-acoustics measures for all people averaged but the specific individual one too ...

Then claiming we can predict sound quality perceiving experience  from engineering objective measures only  is worst than a lie, it is an half truth...a marketing necessity for sure ..."buy this, problem solved, it is the best designed gear" ...This is pure half truth than worst than a lie. it is propaganda matter called : "marketing" ...

If for acousticians hearing is yet a mystery, i dont think it is a settled matter only  for ASR members ...smiley

Objectivist as subjectivist are deluded by their gear pieces but from different reason pertaining to each one group obsession ...

Study theory of acoustics not just room acoustic...

But at least "subjectivist" trust their ears ability to be trained over dials measures...Then they could learn acoustics concepts not with their brain only but by "ears" ....
