Auralic Support
About two years ago I bought an Auralic Aries G1.1 Wireless Streaming Transporter from Audio Advisor. I understand that Auralic is no longer in business. Their support site no longer exists. What, if any, support can I get on this product?
Perhaps one of you can answer my question. The G1.1 sounds great, but lately it has quit streaming on Tidal after playing six or eight songs. Then it displays an error msg" Unable to play selected streaming track. I have determined that if I go to the Tidal setting (in the Arualic Lightning app) that I can clear the cache and the streamer will play again for six or eight songs and then the same error message appears.
I do not believe this is a Tidal issue. I havs deleted and signed into Tidal a couple of times with the result. As well, I have a Cambridge MXN10 streamer on my desktop that is plugged into the same ethernet switch as my G1.1 and it has no problems. Cambridge uses the same smart device interface associated with Auralic.
I suspect that the G1.1 has a firmware issue because Auralic no longer updates. Whatever the issue, it is a damned shame that an expensive piece of gear can be so quickly consigned to the scrap heap because the manufacturer no longer supports it. I have written to Audio Advisor for advice but haven't received an answer yet.
Any suggestions?

I came close to buying the top Auralic streamer at one point. Went with Innuos instead, which feels lucky at this point. I don't think there was any signs at the time that Auralic was anything other than a very well established competitor at the top of that category, so it is surprising they folded. What about using Roon? It has a monthy cost so maybe not a perfect solution, but you could at least try for a month and see if their Tidal playback engine solves the problem for you. That would buy you more time until you eventually figure out what device you want to move to. |
In case any of you are wondering about my Auralic/Tidal saga this is to say that there has been a happy (or at least useful) ending. After trying all but one of the suggestions proposed to solve my Tidal buffering issue I tried the last one and switched to Qobuz. Works like a charm. No buffering, no other problems. Now I am enjoying the (to me) very good sounds that the Aries G1.1. So, for the foreseeable future I am not in the market for a new streamer. Thanks for all of your attention to this matter. |
@norcalal Hmm, glad to hear you found the solution in another streaming service. I would like to tell you that I have the same issue with Tidal via the Lightning app on an iphone. giving the error on my iphone and on the display of the Auralic. It looks as if it flashes through the playlist, displaying a streaming error for every track. As if the playlist isn't able to find the tracks within Tidal. Choosing the playlist again solves the problem. A second issue i have is using the Spotify connect from any phone, android or iphone, after a few songs the playing stops and the Spotify stream on the phone is paused. If you press play, the sound comes from the phone, so the connection to the Auralic is broke. connecting again solves the problem, but I'm not happy with this behaviour. I post this because in the threat I've read that perhaps more users would have this problems. I don't have an account for Roon, but for shure it's next on my list to test the Auralic. |
