Granite Slabs

I've seen a few systems here that used granite slabs under speakers. Where would one find these cut slabs to size and how thick would the granite need to be to support 225lb speaker? Looking for 2 pieces cut about 20x17x1-2", any help would be great.

TIA

All good information! I'm still not sure about price vs gain on some of these platforms & footers. I figured I try a remnant of granite first and see what happens if anything. My Andra II speakers have poured granite in them and weigh about 215lbs so I'm not sure they are even vibrating.

@sidog1460 Yeah I've looked at his products and wondered about them. I wanted some of is Fatboy disc to play with.

@sqitis  For testing, you could use a 24" paving slab for little money. Paint it black. Stick it in the yard if it doesn't work out.

@ghdprentice   Thanks.  The Townshend podiums look great, but a bit spendy for me ($4000).  I am hoping I can get 75% of the way there for 25% of the price with the IsoAcoustic GAIA feet.  They are returnable but a good bit of work to put them on.

Great information here - thanks to those with experience for weighing in!!

anyone have thoughts on speakers on 2nd floor on hardwood floors?  I have Vandy 5s and they are just on small spikes.  Any views on which route I should take platform or ISO wise?

happy thanksgiving to all
