Personality

I now find myself streaming most of the time. Although the SQ is really good, I realize there’s something missing.  When I pull out a record or CD, each one seems to have a uniqueness or personality of its own which reflects when I first bought it or played it.  Also each one seems to have a sound signature which I associate with it, making it more personal.  I don’t get that with streaming

Does anyone else feel this way?

I also did not believe in Streaming, but, now I love it.  The main reason is because I joined a high end streaming service - Qobuz - aprox. $10 a month.

I have all individual components, and I started with Vinyl, then finally went to CD, then to SACD...  From there, I ripped all my digital to files -- .wav and .dsf...  Finally, understanding how much improved streaming is today, I decided to join Qobuz and invest in high quality streaming front end and upgrade my ethernet components.  I am using the same DAC for everything and I do not think I can do a blind A/B test and tell the difference between CD/SACD, ripped files, and Qobuz streaming.

The Qobuz streaming opened up a whole new world of music to me and rejunivated the hobby for me.  It is really fantastic how great streaming CD quality and Hi Rez data sounds on my stereo system.  Recently, it is really the best investment in the hobby I have made.  The time when streaming was not as good in sound quality as CD, SACD, or digital files is over.

Thanks !

Note:  Although I feel all Digital is about equal now with high quality equipment, I still like the "original analog recordings" on vinyl way better than their later conversion to Digtial.

@rvpiano  Not in my audio system!!!  Streaming through my rig sounds just as intimate, just as cozy and involving, just as exciting, just as awesome as CD or vinyl ever did for me.  Streamed music is nothing more than another source, who’s sound quality is totally dependent (like anything else) on how it’s implemented.  Streaming done right, IMOH, is one of the most ingenious inventions in the history of high-end audio.  That’s why I’ve been streaming exclusively for over four years now.  And in over 40 years, I’ve never been happier.  Anyone can opt to listen to their music any way they please.  In whatever way that’s most pleasing to their ears.  It’s all there for us all to enjoy.  Oh, but I still love seeing others rock their turn tables, CD players, reel-to-reels, etc., (I grew up with and loved all of them), as they all still sound awesome, keeping the old school spirit alive, as it all harken me back to the good old days (my youth) Lol!!!  Happy listening.
