Forget cables as snakeoil. There's a new snake King in town.

I can tell differences between most amps...especially Class D....and I also believe people who say they can't hear a difference..

I can even hear a difference with my Denafrips DAC...that's the limit of my hearing though...cables & digit outputs sound the same to me. 

Having said that, AV Receivers all do sound very similar to me...they are doing about the same thing...low bias Class AB. 

@samureyex     Charpentier is your everyday average "home theater dude". These guys are not audiophiles. Their listening material is mission impossible movie action scenes, go figure. They don't listen to music.

Buckeye? Cuckeye? Schmuckeye? what the hell is that? He sounds like he belongs on ASR, cuddled up on the ASR guy’s lap.

Don’t argue with such low IQ critters and have a good time listening to music.

Ryan Charpentier (owner of Ascend audio) thinks an AVR is as good as any other amplifiers and to even spend more money on any dedicated amplifier would be a waste of money. In his words, the noise floor is too low for most systems to distinguish between AVR and another amp.

Dylan (owner of Buckeye) thinks all amplifiers sound the same when "properly designed. To add more context, he thinks his Hypex class D is perfection. Perfect in the sense that it is "100% true to the source material" and cannot be improved any further. Even 500 years from now.

Buckeye claims all decent amplifiers sound identical. And yet somehow he's proud of the review he got by (Stereophile if I remember correctly). Based on his claims, his would sound identical to every Hypex and Purifi amplifiers out there. So why are you proud of something that is the opposite of unique?

The one that wrote the review gave it quite a praise. The really funny part is, after this review got published, it was found out the review units were faulty. Something was wrong in the upper frequency.

It’s ridiculous to think that property designed amps sound the same, as if Buckeye sounds like Boulder, Constellation, Soulution, etc.  Better parts and engineering sound better…for a price
