Audiogon has gone too far, too fast with the ads!!!

I enjoy this site and completely understand and support their monetizing it more with ads, but it’s gone too far, too fast IMHO.  First it ran far too slowly, which they thankfully have improved, but we’re still left with ads popping up all over the place to the point of being overly intrusive, distracting, and annoying at least in my experience.  Past that, and even worse, if I try to post a response longer than a few sentences the site often refreshes and I lose what I’ve written, and that’s even with me proactively saving it as I’m typing (it happened twice while I typed this!!!) — this rarely happened before the advertising deluge. I just wish they’d back it off a bit at least until they can work out whatever limitations are causing these frequent and very frustrating issues.  Or maybe it’s just me?

Sounds like you may be experiencing issues specific to your system. I don't know what kind of system you have, but regardless of what OS you run a good first step is always to shut down your system; unplug the PS from the wall; remove the battery if it's a laptop; give it a minute and restart it and see if it made things better.

Audiogon is the only forum I know where unpublished posts just disappear if you leave or refresh the page. And then, sometimes the site makes refreshes the page on it's own, or it decides that you need to login again when you just happen to be in the middle of a post.

By contrast, write a post on DIYAudio but don't publish it; close your browser, turn the system off, whatever, when you reboot your post will be there waiting for you.

Why Audiogon persists in not using any of the excellent forum software out there and going their own way instead is beyond me. I guess, in a way, it's admirable; but if you're going to do this, then make it work.

it is the most low-tech website I know, not just all of any audio site but of any thematic sites I have seen in the last decade. Yes, you lose everything, if you don’t post it and it’s awkward in more ways than I can list, especially with the dynamic ads jerking the content up and down. But it’s free and they can run it however they want to.

All three of the above continue to happen to me as well.  The refreshing issue is worse on my iPad than on my laptop that has a VPN activated.  The login issue is worse on my laptop.  All of it is annoying.

I use the Brave Browser and it has reduced the popup ads when I access Audiogon on my iPhone.

This is irrelevant since, it seems, it is not working on your system.  Please send an email to [email protected] and include the details  of your issue and include as many screen shots as possible.  Audiogon needs these details to resolve your issues.  Thank you.

are we in the 90s?

What about app logs, network logs, good old testing? Let alone you can't screenshot a resizing form, you can only video it.
