@jnc Hi, I had the same issue about a year ago. I too was set on buying the Fyne 12" or 15" bass driver speakers. Not much else in the market to compete against them and they really spend a lot of money on marketing their technology and of course most of their engineers and chief designer jumped ship from Tannoy to set up Fyne.
However a chance meeting introduced me to ATC speakers. Again I was caught in the dilemma between the 12" SCM 100 or the 15" SCM 150, both passive.
Eventually I decided on the SCM 100, the 150s were just physically unappealing, they looked like a couple of 'fridges.
Anyway fast forward to present day absolutely no regrets the 12" bass drivers have really opened up and create a soundstage way wider than the speakers.
Apologies if I've thrown you a curve ball here but the ATCs can handle massive power loads without fear of overload. I say this because the Fynes are quite sensitive. ATC also come in active versions if that maybe interesting to you.
So in conclusion get the 12" and buy some extra gear but check out the ATCs before you pull the plug.
