Jrareform I do have the Tekton impact monitor and I have heard the Ls50 kef and the meta seires, both speakers are very good and capable , it depends what components you will used. Tekton impact monitors loves pass like x25 and tubes amp . Kef like solid state Mark Levinsons, plinius, parasound etc.

Speakers are built to as price point so that most people who want to jump in can find affordable gear. Could KEF build a better R3 Meta? Of course they can and they do. Its called the Reference 1 and its over 3 times the price. |

I stumbled across the Reference 1, first in The Absolute Sound compared with big Quad elecrostatics, and secondly when my main dealer had traded in a pair. I snapped them up as a temporary replacement while I fixed my Quad ESL-2905 electrostatics, but in many ways they are better than the big Quads, if you have a suitable amplifier to drive them (and a subwoofer?). @llg98ljk of course Danny pays attention to marketing. He knows more about the industry than we do. Instead of paying 3X for the next model up, maybe you spend $500 for his kit...and get closer to Reference 1. |
@jayctoy love to hear that! Yea if I could borrow a pair of the R3 Meta I'd be totally down to try that but unfortunately my local kef dealer sold the business and it's no longer an audio shop. I'll bet they sing with the right gear and the right room. Thanks for the insight! |
