VPI 12.5 tonearm question

Hello. I have an older VPI table with a JMW 12.5 uni-pivot tonearm with the first generation conical style male bearing. I was thinking of upgrading to the newest style Uni-Pivot Housing & Needle. Do I also need to change the female contact point on the tonearm?

If the female bearing is not damaged, there is no benefit to changing it out.

If you want a second opinion or more information, there is a Facebook group dedicated to VPI products.  If you can sift through the numerous incorrect answers, there are a few members who know what they  are talking about.  There is one member who knows a lot about VPI tables and who is a mechanical engineer, you can trust her.
