Steely Dan albums

Gaucho ist well recorded and I have an early pressing, which to me sounds better than Aja. However, in Babylon Sisters, the 's' in sisters sounds like lisping a little. I don't know if this is a recording issue, or if the singer was too close to the microphone (same effect).

I love the original AB 1006 pressing of Aja. After watching a video from Mike of  “The In Groove” I searched a Cisco pressing of Aja. He said it was the best sounding, the AB 1006 second best sounding. 

After buying a NM copy and listening to it on two of my turntables, I gave the Cisco to a buddy. I don’t think it beat the AB 1006! I did hear differences but I don’t think they were better than the original. 

Regardless of sound quality, Aja just hits the mark for every song being a stone cold classic, not a single track you don’t want to listen to!  I’m happy to say I’ve seen them live a good number of times, the last of which was not too long before Walter passed.  Even without Walter,  Fagan and crew put on a great live performance. 

I appreciate all your responses. I have a couple of friends who are sound techs and other sound engineers use Steely Dan as a reference for PA testing. I have been using Tidal as a source for streaming hi-res audio. Never tried  LP pressing to start out with. Donald Fagen album Morph the Cat is exceptional also. 

Until a few months ago, I had no idea that Steely Dan produced such quality sounding recordings. Learn something new every day.
