Steely Dan albums

Of all the three Steely Dan albums being discussed, I find Gaucho to be the best and most enjoyable recording to listen to. This surprises me in that I thought that Aja would be based upon the acclaim it gets. I recently purchased the 45rpm  UHQR of  Aja and while it is a significant improvement over the older MOFI version, it still didn't have the dynamics and soundstage of my MCA test pressing of Gaucho. IMHO The most under rated LP of Donald Fagen is Sunken Condos! Still, while SD/DF have not made one bad record, my favorite SD is Can't by a Thrill with Midnight Cruiser. This is a band that i have binged on listening to for an entire multiple hour listening session.

I don't own the albums but I recently listened to them both 24/192 on Qobuz.  Terrific.

I own 2 copies of "Two Against Nature. One on Giant and the other Analogue Productions. Need to re listen.

Gaucho ist well recorded and I have an early pressing, which to me sounds better than Aja. However, in Babylon Sisters, the 's' in sisters sounds like lisping a little. I don't know if this is a recording issue, or if the singer was too close to the microphone (same effect).

I love the original AB 1006 pressing of Aja. After watching a video from Mike of  “The In Groove” I searched a Cisco pressing of Aja. He said it was the best sounding, the AB 1006 second best sounding. 

After buying a NM copy and listening to it on two of my turntables, I gave the Cisco to a buddy. I don’t think it beat the AB 1006! I did hear differences but I don’t think they were better than the original.
