Needing to replace thirty year old speakers.

I have a thirty year old pair of Canton ergo 80 speakers. I

never felt they were that good. My current system includes

a Chronus magnum dark integrated amplifier, a Cambridge

audio can v2 streamer and two Svs 2000 pro subs. The

Chronic dark replaced an Adcom 555-2 amplifier and an

Adcom 565 preamplifier. I always thought the Adcom

equipment sounded harsh in the upper midrange. The

Chronic solved that problem. It is better than the Adcom

equipment in every way. I like speakers that are slightly

warm sounding but still give detail. My budget is around

$5,000, maybe a little more. What speakers would sound

good with my setup? If a recommended speaker allowed

Me to delete the subs, my wife would be happy 😊

So many choices, If you want big sound those SVS monsters recently reviewed by stereophile are $5k, those DALI oberons are $2500 and DALI likely has a line that's a step above that'll eat your whole budget and offer a bit more detail. If you have a dark room or rolled off amp Paradigm offers some decent speakers for the money. If you like the ASR forum the folk on that site will tell you the Revel f208 or KEF R11m, and they're not bad, but when we get to that level often speakers get more sensitive to amplification,  If I were you i'd want the ability to return whatever I buy within a reasonable amount of time in case you run into poor room acoustics or poor component pairing.

@parkergetdean Cultural depredation, hubris, non-assimilation.  Well, you asked.  Not all, but too many.  Tribalism affects too many negatively.  Back to the fun part, audio.  Cheers

+1 @celtic66

They can't even afford to live in their own damn state so they emigrate, but instead of respecting folks who've lived here their whole lives and whose home this is, they start finger-wagging at everyone and telling them which way is up. Just gtf home
