It is quite possible @lewm values the used second hand market that can increase his buying power. I know l do. This approach increases the choices and variety of gear that can be assembled. Better to pass on that equipment if you need to, and make back most of the investment. Within a chosen budget it can be in most cases a winning situation.

Bought all the expensive cartridges used from trusted sources, except the Urushi which I bought new in Tokyo for $1700, when they were about $5K in the US. I didn’t pay more than $2K for any. I don’t tell porkies, whatever those are. I was able to score many of the vintage MM and MI cartridges NOS for under $1000. |
