High current amp search

Hello, so as the title says, I'm looking for a 200+ wats amp (8ohm) that will double it's power down to 2 ohms but importantly also check all the audiophile boxes so strong, articulate, fast bass, smooth resolving mid-range and extended non fatiguing highs. It's proving to be rather difficult because hardly any manufacturers list  output into 2ohms. Budget is around 4000$ so I'm looking at mostly used. Besides something like the Krell FPB 300/400 CX which can be had for that much , what else can be recommended?

Coda was the first that came to mind, and there’s a nice CSX available here now in your price range that’d likely drive anything you can throw at it.

If you think you could get by with “only” 500Wpc into 2Ohms this SMcAudio DNA 1 is a sweet sounding amp and is probably negotiable at $2200 so would save you some $$$.  Plus if you like what you hear you could send it to them for all their latest upgrades for even more and likely still be under your budget.

Best of luck.

CODA  #16 = 150 | 300 | 600 @ 8 | 4 | 2. I own it and it is a refined beast with the first 100 watts in Class A. This amp is more powerful than amps I owned at 500-wartts at 8 Ohm. It is the power supply that makes this this sound so strong.

I used to own the CODA #8 but the 1/4 price Schiit Wotan is just as good (I own it). The Wotan is a very powerful amp and sounds great with my hard to drive Maggies (2 Ohms).

@yyzsantabarbara you’re the most loyal schiit-head on the forum. Lol

They should start paying you.

@yyzsantabarbara  the incredibly low damping factor in the Wotan gives me a pause. With complicated  demanding music this might be an issue  I think..

@audphile1 Some of their stuff is mediocre but never bad. Their great stuff is the Yggi+ OG DAC and the Wotan amp. Reason I am so bullish is that the Yggi+ OG replaced a $15K DAC (and was much better) and the Wotan replaced my old $8k amps (Sanders Magtech | CODA #8). The Wotan is not better, but it is not worse either. That is something that penny pinchers may find useful.
