Why do you listen to records?

Do you listen to records for the SQ, or do you just prefer to listen to music through this medium?
I find myself putting records on occasionally, ( I have a large  collection) but I’m not sure if it’s because of their sound.  I certainly have the availability of millions of songs or compositions to listen to by streaming, and the sound quality is just abut the same, and, of course, the variety is endless.

So why listen to records?

@newton_john I did not put a number on sound quality. I put a number on changes and improvements in technology. It's the same technology for decades, a needle and a groove. Whereas streaming and digital is improving every year.

Cars are 100+ years old technology and even back then they had batteries in them too.

People don’t mind and enjoy driving around in old technology today. I can see no difference in thinking here, what preference is chosen with hi-fi reproduction, and whatever form it takes.

Always. But in the past there was barrier and filters imposed by the social fabric institutions acting from a  self regulating  thermometer. the best description of this is in René Girard book about mimesis.

These institutions are made obsolete, they cannot work as in the past, even the old line separating private life and public life is abolished now.

Then we see chaos emerging around the egg of the new consciousness..

has the world always been this angry?

Here's an excellent idea for your acoustic/electric/mechanical experimentation extravaganza.

While you are DJ'ing (wacking away at your turntable with those straws), pull a couple of extra straws from your helmhlotzing speaker ports and stick it up you know where...it could convert yourself wholesomely into a helmholtz resonator, not just the speaker.

That would be some genius helmholtz level acoustic/mechanical/electrical concepts in implementation, i bet.....(acoustic acoustic)
