First off, I don’t know how you can put numbers on sound quality.

Secondly in my experience, vinyl and digital have been leapfrogging each other for the past quarter of a century at least.

Before that, I suppose you could argue digital had a lot of ground to make up from a poor start with CD. Even so, a lot of people preferred it from the word go.

We have reached the point where there’s very little to choose between the best of them. It’s mainly down to taste, mastering, convenience, etc.

This week I’ve been streaming new stuff. Last week it was playing records. If I had to, I could live with either. 

Here's an excellent idea for your acoustic/electric/mechanical experimentation extravaganza.

While you are DJ'ing (wacking away at your turntable with those straws), pull a couple of extra straws from your helmhlotzing speaker ports and stick it up you know where...it could convert yourself wholesomely into a helmholtz resonator, not just the speaker.

That would be some genius helmholtz level acoustic/mechanical/electrical concepts in implementation, i bet.....(acoustic acoustic)

I used as i said after thinking it was the needle, my other Bach good pressings albums and few others for few years without problem...

Many companies used bad pressing materials...

And a straw is a tube then can be used if we use some with different dimensions to modify a port hole which is a tube...

@newton_john I did not put a number on sound quality. I put a number on changes and improvements in technology. It's the same technology for decades, a needle and a groove. Whereas streaming and digital is improving every year.

Cars are 100+ years old technology and even back then they had batteries in them too.

People don’t mind and enjoy driving around in old technology today. I can see no difference in thinking here, what preference is chosen with hi-fi reproduction, and whatever form it takes.
