Has anyone sold over $35k worth of equipment over the net? How do you protect yourself?

I currently own a Moon 861 amp. I am considering buying a Moon 891 preamp/streamer. Sometimes, I get a bit nervous owning this much in gear. If I ever wanted to sell it, we are talking about $35k payment through paypal or a like service. I read where a buyer could dispute the transaction with their bank even if they bought it through paypal (or zelle) and the seller would lose the money.

Has anyone else sold this much in gear before over the net? How do you handle this kind of risk?

I've sold cars that price and we met outside their bank and they went in and got a cashiers check. Pretty safe and no take-backs.

A Bank Transfer takes minutes, if the Purchaser has the correct info in their possession when viewing the equipment and decides to purchase.

I usually arrange that my Wife is on Standby remotely, she is treating herself to a speciality Coffee or similar treat for herself, whilst I go off into the world of being a Purchaser of a used goods. My Wife will be the one who makes the Payment Transfer to the supplied Banking Details when all is agreed about the sale.

By the time it takes to make a Coffee, the Transfer will usually be showing in the Vendors account as a cleared funds.

I don't know what can be more useful to an individual, to give them confidence,  when there is a concern being raised about not receiving a bona-fide, non-specious payment for their sale items.

Additionally, the Buyer does not have to concern themselves about risks to payment methods that are alternative and may require bringing along valuables they are not comfortable with bringing.

I recently bought a pair of Pass XA 160.8 to replace a Moon 860aV2

The seller was in CA and thr only choice for Escrow  is Escrow.com    Other tjam they are SLOW it provides safety.

I’m very happy with the purchase.   So sweet!

I’ve been lucky to have all my buy and sell transactions go smoothly, PayPal or credit card for the payments.  In one case the potential buyer wanted to speak with me and asked a bunch of questions, we negotiated a cash price, had me text him my address for the local pick up.  When he arrived at my home he said he thought about it and deducted $600 from what he offered over the phone.  "No Thanks".  My lesson in that was to not go around the website, make the buyer execute a buy through the site, so I could at least post a review on the site so others would know about the buyer.  A guy who bought a McIntosh receiver from me let me know that he'd purchased one previously from another seller and when the carton arrived at his home, it was filled with phone books!  It took him several months to resolve the issue and fortunately both he and the seller were in the same state, so the resolution didn't need to cross state lines.
