Agreed.
Just back from vacation, Aries S1 with S1 PSU working without any issues. Site is frozen so no further adjustments at this point. Just glad I had Qobuz & Amazon HD set up. The rest is in the hands of the audio gods. I do pray nightly! 🙏
@kofibaffour I have done a shoot out between a Wiim Ultra and an Aries 2.1 with Hoer-Wege psu upgrade. They are not even remotely in the same universe sound wise. Wiim is a decent entry level streamer and that's as much praise as it deserves. I have compared my upgraded Aries to top end Aurender units and it slightly bested the Aurender. It also sounded much better than Grimm which I will be putting up for sale shortly. The problem with Grimm is Roon, while having the best software in the business it sounds mediocre.

Seemed like they had a good thing going with their streamers, dacs, amps, preamps.... I've had them all. Still do. Excellent quality streamers, but compared to the competition it seemed to me only a matter of time. Their Streamers were priced VERY high, and the competition is just too good to be offering a black box with 2000's html interface. I bought my G1 and G2 for sound quality and they are still in used today, and I'll hold onto them as long as they last. |
Just FYI, I am able to use the Linn music app to play FLAC music on Auralic Vega S1, against an Asset UPnP running on my mini PC. I also own a Rose HiFi 150B, which serves as a media center in the living room. But from a pure music perspective, Auralia sounds much better than Rose HiFi on my systems with Accuphase amps + Sonus Faber / Harbeth speakers. Hope the Auralia software can be turned into open source. |
