Requesting Your Expertise - Best Options - High Sensitivity Speakers For A Smaller Room

Thanks for mentioning the Odeon's that you may have available. I don't honestly know anything about them, or the company that builds them. There are no reviews that I can find. I would need more knowledge about them, their sound, and honestly, a chance to audition them before considering them, so they aren't really an option. 

you can find AudioNote speakers used in your price range. It will take a litle effort but worth it. 

We need to realize that we all have different tastes, and our hearing mechanisms are different from one other. What is "bright and shouty" to one, will be wonderful to another. Stop the ridiculousness. Music type, and volume levels to be achieved, will determine the speaker and amplifier pairing, as well as the room / listening seat. I could never live with an 8 watt amp through my Lascalas, as I have tried. 

Agree, there are so many variables, which is why IMO the only "audition" that matters is hearing something in my room with my equipment and my music on my time with my favorite libation and my dog laying beside me, etc...That's why I now am ok purchasing without demo'ing. I've had something sound one way at a demo but sound very different at home.

Lots of options. Without knowing more about your system I'll make three recommendations:

1- Buchardt Audio from Denmark. Only sells direct. Great speakers, both passive and active. Beautiful wood - some models are solid wood construction. I have a pair of A10 active speakers in my living room and they are excellent. Full range in a bookshelf speaker, no rear port so you can place them reasonably close to the front wall. Wireless or XLR connectivity and DSP if you want/need it. My wife loves these.

2- Look at the relatively new Omega DynaTen speakers. Louis added a tweeter to his already excellent single driver design. No crossover, just a cap acting as a high pass filter. I'm purchasing a pair of these to use in my office with a tube amp. Also great wood - Louis is known for his outstanding veneer work. I'm really looking forward to these speakers.

3- When I was a dealer, I had one line of speakers that I always recommended for small or otherwise problematic rooms - Larsen from Sweden. Onmidirectional and designed to be (must be) places smack against the wall. I haven't met a room that these didn't sound fantastic. They paint a huge "picture" that will fill the front wall. And the sonic image will stay pretty much the same no matter where you are in the room so seating position is less critical. For a room your size I would look for a used pair of Larsen 4s. Unfortunately it looks like the company closed after John Larsen passed away last year but you can look for a used pair on Hifishark.
