How to dispose of your system?

How come no one asks about what to do should you end up in a nursing home or extended care facility.  There are several possibilities there.  You might want to have access to a compact system, say one with 'phones, and select out whatever software you might want to accompany you. Maybe something simple with a streamer, or even just a note so your fam could get something you specify. Unless you want to be stuck in someplace with one of those sorry tv's.  Also, you would be alive and, hopefully, able to give some instructions.  If not, I wouldn't be sweating this., I really wouldn't.   

Your choices are limited: dispose of the gear while you are still alive or leave it to your survivor to deal with. In my case, I have an estate plan that will in theory address both the gear and the record collection. 

We tend to value stuff beyond what the market is. I've been through this a few times. I've bought record collections and overpaid only because I wanted to do "right" by the surviving spouse. But, the reality is the market. And it isn't especially good for used high end equipment. Same with motorcycles and a lot of sports cars.

Vintage watches- maybe. Art- depends. Furnishings- I've sent stuff to auction, knowing that it would not fetch what it is theoretically worth. 

If you need peace of mind, come up with a plan. Talk to your spouse and to an estates and trusts lawyer. The latter is another outlay.
