Room treatment

@fire_water Thanks. I get at least an hour in ( often an ‘hour or so” ) most days. The movable panels double as fill light when taking images using the North windows. As @lalitk said the chair matters. My first one cupped behind my fat head and nothing behind your ears makes a difference! Eames is cool but fashion is trumped by function. Party on. 

Lol my Eames chair is rarely used as I tend to sit on my couch which reclines.   But I do reposition the Eames once in a while.  A few notable times I sat on the Eames and listened to a late night mix of acoustic guitarists that include Alexander Valentine, Chris Haugen, Emilio Bonito, Tommy Berre,  Will Ackerman and Kim Aspen and really enjoyed it.  Another time I sat on the Eames to a mix of guitar solos by David Gilmour. The other night my wife joined me and we listened to Tord Gustavsen Trio's The Other Side. She rarely comes in my man cave as she prefers TV, but she really loves the room, the LaScalas and these Accuphase components. She hated my previous McIntosh though lol. She has no idea how much any of this stuff costs and never questions it. The only thing that matters to her is seeing me enjoying myself. I designed and built this room in a way that was natural to me and it  brings me peace and it continues to inspire me. I guess that's what's most important. 

Great to see all the comments here. I agree with the importance of acoustic treatments; it took me many years to implement them into my space. After a much more experienced person convinced me to do so, I now understand. Without appropriate treatments, you will miss out on the magic your system has to offer. 
 

I used GIK acoustics, who were a pleasure to work with. Corner base traps behind the speakers and 2x4 foot absorption panels at the reflection points on the side walls 2 on each side). Game changer. 

Can I make the assumption that you did the carpentry work in your listening room? If so, learn about Owens Corning 703 rigid fiberglass panels, and Helmholtz diffusers. Once you figure out the math, you know darn good and well you’re gonna make a better product than some kid in a 🏭.

Beautifully stated, the fact that your room and system have become a source of peace and inspiration for you is the real win, and those shared moments with your wife make it even more special. Gear, cost, and brands aside, the heart of it all is exactly what you described—music that moves you, in a space you’ve created with intention. That’s as good as it gets :-)

I hear you on Eames chair vs Couch.  My wife seldom visits my Man Cave. I did find a chair that checks all the boxes,
