Used Bookshelf up to $3k

I quite like my Merlin TSMs, and plan to keep them, but just for grins want to try something else. Up to $3k, including used.

Does anyone here like anything by B&W? Seems like people love them or consider them just OK on other forums.

As made known on regular occasion ' Scroll on By ', I have a growing Fan Club who can't wait to Skip Past the 'pindac'. In cases like this I am happy to be encouraging, please scroll on by, when 'pindac' is next seen as creator of a Post.

As said, Bookshelf for a Speaker is parity to Bouncing Floor Turn Table.

Does not all available knowledge currently shared publicly strongly suggest avoidance and any of the above two set ups.

If a individual has a Broom Cupboard dimension room and went out and Purchased a Speaker that had the dimension/volume of a Shoe Box. This would not concern me one iota. The iota of concern would be ditto, is such a Speaker was mounted on Bookshelf with one on the Bottom Shelf and One on the Top Shelf.

If the end user was listening to music as they wanted, it's not any of my business.

For the Record: Not at any time have I challenged the set up of a Speaker owned by any contributor to this Thread.

I own Dali Epicon 2 bookshelf speakers in a 2nd smaller system and they are phenomenal in my opinion. Very detailed, good midrange and really nice soundstage.

I just saw a pair listed at TMR for an awesome price.

To answer your question I auditioned a pair of B&W 705 S2 and S3 in Rosenut and Mocha respectively with their matching stands.  They look beautiful and are well built with the tweeter on top.  They sounded good in my medium sized room but were a little too sibilant over time for my ears.  I also tried the KEF R3 Meta with their matching stands.  I went with Revel M126 Be in Walnut.  They are just as beautiful but the beryllium tweeter is much smoother.  The next best I heard were the Philharmonic BMR Monitors in curved Ebony.  A beautiful looking and great sounding 3-way standmount speaker.
