Hypothetical question.

I have a document I prepared in case I eat it, for my wife with all sorts of information in it.  About once a year, I audit my gear's approximate market value for each piece and update it.  That can give her some good information on what she has and what it's worth.  From there she can decide if she wants to sell it as a whole or part it out.  

Knowing her, she'll probably sell it as a whole for less $$ and move on since she'll have much bigger issues to deal with than this stuff.  

It's going with me. One big ass hole in the middle of my property. Nobody else wants the hassle.

An estate sales bottom feeder will pick it up for pennies on the dollar, list it on Craigslist or Marketplace, ask near full retail having only researched original pricing. They won’t be able to answer one question for prospective buyers other than, no, it doesn’t have a remote, the original boxes, or owners manual. NO LOW BALLERS!

My neighbour was a glues harmonica player (many of them spend a lifetime finding the microphone with that magic tone, but like us, it’s a niche hobby. When he passed away his wife dropped in to ask what she should do with his array of microphones. She was eager to sell them and wondered if $200 was asking too much. I agreed to help her, and when it all was sold, I had earned her $11 000. She was gobsmacked and came by a week later to give me $1000 and a very nice bottle of wine.

moral of the story, make some contacts that, if worse comes to worst, your spouse can call to help move things along in the fairest way.

I'm 70, and during COVID we prepared our final resting place, established Will's, etc.  in the Will I asked my 2 girl's NOT to sell my system in a garage sale.  I've got about 35k tied up into it , along with a couple hundred HQ records.  The youngest show's interest in the hobby.  Perhaps she will take the entire system.  I think that's the best I can do!
