Great thread, I appreciate the descriptive comments as it’s so useful when trying to match with speakers. I love the mc611’s driving my blades, well I did b4 stumbling onto this thread, now I’m off to learn more about Accuphase.
Accuphase vs Luxman
Greetings! Is anyone here familiar with Luxman M10x and Luxman C10x? I currently have Accuphase components consisting of an Accuphase A-48S Class-A amplifier, an Accuphase C2300 preamplifier and an Accuphase DC-37 Processor/DAC. My system is definitely an upgrade from my previous McIntosh MA12000 integrated which I still consider to be a really good component. The Accuphase is clean, precise but not clinical, dynamic and musically engaging. Mids are lush and bass is impactful and focused. It's like a beautiful custom acoustic with incredible sustain, decay and detail that resonates emotionally (what can I say, I love guitars).
But what will the Luxman offer me? I should mention that I have Klipsch LaScala AL5 speakers and an Innuos Pulsar (not Pulse) streamer. I guess I'm just curious and love exploring different avenues.

@steve59 to be perfectly honest with you, I didn't think this thread would have garnered any real attention at all. I'm new to Audiogon and this was my very first post of any kind. I'm grateful for all the incredible advise that was given to me from many enthusiastic, well seasoned and trustworthy audiophiles. I loved my McIntosh MA12000 integrated amplifier but my Accuphase has taken music to another level. But that's just me. Sound is subjective just like the actual music we listen to and prefer - McIntosh vs Accuphase like Porsche vs Ferrari - no real winner. Looking at some of the incredible gear many of the members here on Audiogon have makes me lust for more and better. But I love my setup and I appreciate every listening hour. A couple guys here gave me some solid recommendations like adding a subwoofer and treating my room instead. And they are right! So I'm back to looking at a REL Classic 99 sub and I'm looking at room treatments by Vicoustic and GIK Acoustics. This is long overdue and I'm excited. |
Like you, I have the Accuphase a48s and the c2300. I initially tried the McIntosh c53 preamp instead of the c2300. The c2300 has truly opened up the a48s to its full sound ability. Also like you, I have Klipsch speakers. In my case, I have the Klipsch Forte IVs. Before the switch of the preamp, I wondered if switching the speakers would have me what I wanted more so…with that being said, the c2300 as I stated REALLY opened up my system. I’d call it almost lush sounding. I am pretty sure this will be my system that I will have for years and years. I listened to some Luxman devices (I think the 509z) at a HiFi store. It just sounded more “bright” sounding. I’m didn’t like it as much as what I get from my current setup. I cannot speak on the other Luxman devices though. I would be interested in what the Luxman tube preamps would do for my system. For now though, like I said this is “my” system…lol. For context…. My other devices are PS Audio PerfectWave SACD transport going through the Laiv uDAC, Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 as the streamer, Denon DP-3000NE direct drive turntable using an Ortophon black quintet, and Icon Audio PS1 MkII MM/MC phono preamplifier. |
