AI and how you use it.

Using AI is an extension into a new Norm.  OK it does what it does. But the real challenging question is where will it lead? We’re only a little bit into this process. And in such a short period of time. Society is giving into all the pressures of building out this mega Capital cycle that is uncharted. Basically it’s a whole bunch of warehouses electrifying Computer chips.  Let Nothing standing in their way.  as we all are amused by the efforts of the geeks.

Some called this "progress" but brained washed by oligarchic power and science specialization they refused to see the social cost to pay...

I am not against A.I. i am for the improvement necessary for a growing immature social fabric into maturity...And A.I. is no help for this...

We are very far from it...

 Then A.I.  could not be beneficial ...

There is a trade-off  in the core of the Faust drama between  each part of ourselves. One part is driven to power the other part driven to love and wisdom.

There is another trade-off : when we trust the machine for thinking our own thinking decline...

 There is a reason why Hinton quit  his post at Google...

 There is a reason why Bengio and Tegmark  ask for thinking ...

There is a reason why most oligarchs ask for more money and more speed: it is power...

There is a reason why Van der Leyen,  the witch of the European union just said this week that the digital money and tracking are inescapable and China is the model ...

And as i said i prefered to be an informed Amish than a cyborg...

I will not go into the "spiritual" and mathematical aspects,  some are disturbed by the word "soul"  and i dont think that they understand  what is at stake...

This was just fun. But I seriously use AI to help write. I am writing about consciousness and social reality. I create the thoughts and content and have it put them in order and flesh it out. It is restating my own thoughts and ideas, but getting rid of the drudgery of organizing and polishing. 
 

I do diagrams in sketch form in OneNote on an iPad and have AI turn it into a professional looking illustration. 

I am constantly having ideas that need either more background in something like history... say Russian ideology in the early eighteen hundreds or research on some esoteric brain function. Instead of stopping and getting a book... I get and instant outline. 

Also, fixing almost anything. My second story windows need cleaning, I don't want to use a ladder. What is helpful.

It is an every day tool to research and let my mind explore the universe faster with less time wasted on mundane tasks. 

Nobody can negate the usefulness of A.I. as a tool...

Just for health research and medecine it will be revolutionary...

It can give a short resume of a book of 1000 pages in few seconds...

 But in the context of a more general discussion, A.I. is also a threat for an immature social fabric. not just a political threat because it could be used by oligarchs to exert control upon the mass, it is already used this way.

It is a spiritual threat because of the trade-off implied ( the more we use it the less we work with our brain speaking for the mass here not for the creative minorities)  and the dependence it imply.

More than that it is a door open for spiritual unknown forces and entities. But here i could not go further in this thread.  It is why in a deeper way we are us humans the tools for A.I. it is already the case that we are mere tools for the machine but it is not apparent.

That was my point.

Now an anecdote:

I remember a story I read 50 years ago, taken from a century-old pedagogy book, written by a very profound educator.

This very wise and learned professor, teaching pedagogy in the 1920s, said this to future teachers:

Dear friends, children are not small animals but highly evolved intelligent beings in their spiritual aspect, and if they constantly see you reading a book in front of them to "inform" them, these highly evolved and very ancient beings within them will whisper in their ear, without them consciously paying attention, the following message: "You too, when you  will be a grown up adult, you  will be able to read this book like him. Today, rest and dream without worrying about what he read."

AI will have the same negative effect on today’s beings. Not on everyone; there’s always been a minority who have been enlightened for a long time, but on the majority of people, the effect will be negative from an intellectual and spiritual point of view.

What the student asks of his little calculator, he no longer asks of his brain...

AI has a cost; there’s no free lunch.

I stopped using ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok and Claude for most questions because Alexa+ is much more convenient. But I don't use any before I post on a forum. If I don't already know the answer I figure the OP can look it up themselves.

I'd like to respond. I disagree with a lot and agree with some. I started physics class with a slide rule, then calculators came out, much later computers... I can tell you, no where along the path did I loose anything... but got rid of non-intellectual drudgery. Allowing me (all) to actually think... inquire and learn. 

If you have access to The New York Times. I recommend listening to, or reading this. It shows how AI can and increasingly will allow us to learn better and deeper... I was a child with undiagnosed ADHD... and learned almost nothing. If AI had been teaching I would have been at the top of my class.
