Your DAC won’t process a 1-bit signal so you need an SACD player. This Marantz is in your price range but apparently only one left…
I think this retailed for $7500 so a nice discount here. Best of luck.
News help choosing a SACD Player / transport
I am very satisfied with my actual system and I like specially my Lampizator DAC sound.
On the other hand, I have some SACD discs which I have ripped, but I feel I do not get same quality when listening to them using a Esoteric player, that a friend has lent for testing if I find differences with the ripped files.
Please, need advice on a SACD player or transport that I could connect to my DAC USING the SACD layer (DSD)
Price is not the main driver although I prefer staying under $5000 and used gear is acceptable.
you are prevented from hearing SACD’s dsd layer from your Lampizator DAC by the rules from the Scarlet Book for SACD.. those rules require a proprietary interface to prevent a dsd file copy. so typically you will need a dac and transport from the same manufacturer. and Lampizator does not make any transport. my recommendation is to live with the PCM layer of the SACD’s you own and output that 16/44 data to the Lampizator. many SACD’s use native PCM files anyway, and these days PCM dacs are much more natural sounding compared to a decade ago. so the reality of dsd advantages are overblown today. it might be a little different, but not predictably better. doing this will allow you to have your tube sound from your Lampi with the SACD music. just won’t be dsd. personally i do exactly what i am recommending. i use the TEAC VRDS 701T transport into my Wadax Reference dac with the rca S/PDIF interface for silver discs. both CD and the redbook layer of my SACD's. sounds great. |
Thank you. I know what you say about the Scarlet Book but I have heard of various devices able to "circumvent" it, although not very reliable ones. I have found a reference to the Onyx Zenith XTS20manufactured by Shanling as said by @gita According to this review, this equipment is able to do it: |
