AI and how you use it.

AI results are actually getting worse, as it feeds on its own hallucinations. So much on web pages is now the result of some AI drivel, and that is now taken as the basis for the next round of AI results. The famous garbage in - garbage out. I also agree that the "intelligence" is a misnomer. Same goes for "research" when people mean looking things up [≠ proper research into the unknown to anybody]. "I researched this component.": no: you looked up information that was already there. No research involved. And don't get me started on "citizen scientist"!

Re AI nonsense, nothing esoteric either. For instance according to AI Diane Feinstein is one of the Senators from California. Tried to see whether it finds Fumariaceae as a plant family showing resupination of flowers, not a chance. Some things one still has to learn and know the old-fashioned way.

The most infuriating thing is, I cannot turn it off! Google autofeeds AI results. The amount of wasted resources (electricity, water) is staggering. I would welcome like the "right to repair" also a "right to turn off".

AI is making us all dumber, as difficult as that is to believe. The fact that a lot of humanity is excited about it is incredibly frustrating. The worst aspect is the "it's not great now, but just wait __________, it's gonna be better than ten Super Bowls!" mentality. Technology in and of itself isn't some kind of panacea and we need to stop treating it as though it is. In fact, I would argue that nothing has divided us culturally more than the internet. It used to be the case that one could avoid the lunatic screaming on a street corner, now there are infinite lunatics and the street corner is every square inch of public and private space.

"There's gold in them thar hills." The gift that keeps on giving until it doesn't. 

If you smoke alot of grass,I think you think AI is Fantastic...just mu opinion.
