Debate: Class D amps need 48 hours of warmup

Have you listened to your amps cold? Warm? Both ways?  What was your experience? I’ll hold my own observations to not bias the replies.

Did you leave them off while on vacation and then come back to find they sounded hard and strident?

Have always found SS amplifiers need a warm up time. My Benchmark needed about 15 minutes. Had an Aragon that needed about 30 minutes. I leave my Accuphase P4600 on all the time.

Aurender and MSB recommend  leaving their components on. And I do.

Sometimes I leave my setup (SE class A preamp and class AB amps) turned on for days at a time, and sometimes I turn it off.

I find that it sounds better when left on. Could be, since it's vintage gear, that I have marginal caps that need reforming to drift back into spec. I don't know

They run cool anyway so the point is moot.

I thought it was worth asking in the context of "why do some insist Class D is still bad?"  - I have had mixed experience with amp warmup.  I have both ICEpower and Hypex plate amps.  The ICEpower to my ears sound the opposite of smooth for a couple of days.  Hypex sounds good, but _maybe_ better after being on 24 hours.

If listeners formed their opinions on ICEpower cold, that may explain some of the remaining anecdotes.

My Luxman integrated on the other hand is similar to what others have mentioned.  Sounds good almost immediately, no big improvement if left on all the time.

My whole rack gets powered down when not in use.

Start it up just about every morning around 6am. Usually it just sounds a little "off" for about an hour. Sound stage is smaller, imaging is a little off. It's subtle, but there.

Another thing I have noticed, on Sunday mornings it always sounds best, even when first turning on. Think this may be due to everyone else still being in bed, no other electronics on in the house, and surrounding area. The noise floor is definitely lower.
