Accuphase vs Luxman

@fire_water, no reaction to my suggestion to look at changes other than electronics to scratch your itch.

While I second the idea for some room acoustic upgrades, my initial impression was that you're pleased with the esthetics of your room so may not want to change much there.  So hopefully you can find some changes without diminishing the visual and physical comfort of your room.

Regarding speakers, here is an explanation of the improvements from your AL5s to the current AL6.  Yes he's a salesman, but I think he does a reasonable job here identifying the upgrades.  If interested there are other reviews of the newer version as well.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E87NIzNgGAA

I'm not pushing Klipsch, there may be other speakers which could make a greater improvement than an electronics change.

@pryso sorry mate it’s been busy.  So I actually did demo the new LaScala speakers, 2x actually. The 1st time they were paired with Fyne Vintage 15 spkrs and then the 2nd time with Klipsch Cornwall. But I wasn’t impressed. I mean they sounded good but the LaScala signature was gone.   While the bass dug deeper,  missing was that authorative quick punch delivered by the AL5 which I’m accustomed to and love. However, the AL6 allows for tri-amping through a Heritage active crossover. Unfortunately I haven’t heard much of  anything on this.  The  idea sounds really good. I guess i could use my Accuphase A-48S for the bass but I’d hand to buy 2 more amplifiers for the mids and highs.  In theory this sounds great! 

firewater, I guess A48 is excellent for driving mids/highs.. for bass P4500/P4600 would give you excellent dynamics!

I honestly can’t imagine the A48S not being up to the task of driving 105dB efficiency speakers. If you feel the AL5s are lacking bass in your gorgeous room, I’d suggest adding a pair of REL Classic 99s. I recently upgraded to a pair myself, and they turned out to be absolutely amazing and equally complimentary for my Canterbury’s. 

@lalitk yes the Accuphase A-48S is more than enough and our sounds spectacular.  I guess I like to experiment. The rabbit hole is big and deep lol.

Ok so now you've touched on something that I've been thinking about for some time - SUBWOOFERS!  In fact I was told to consider REL Classic 99 with my LaScalas by another discerning and credible audiophile who owns an exclusive hifi style just north of Toronto. 

Do I connect using a high-level, high-pass connection?
