Anyone in this hobby lonely like me and wish they could “hang” with a fellow audiophile?

I had to ask this question. Because that’s where I’m at currently. I created a nice little smartly tuned system that I’d love to play for others. As well as a knowledge base that’s strong enough now to listen in educated fashion to others’ systems as well. I just wish I could invite someone to listen, or vise versa. But all my audiophile friends are states or continents away. I live in a small town in east coast Florida and just don’t know anyone in my region who’s an audiophile other than dealers.
Any thoughts?

Will post system in next post

Thanks!

Great thread!   I share the OP's sentiment about wishing I was part of an audiophile community which was geographically nearby.  I'm, in Nassau County, Long Island, which has a huge population so there must be many potential "soulmates" out there.  I have only 1 friend locally who is an audiophile and we do get together once every few months, but the idea of a regular thing is very appealing to me.  My favorite listening experiences are those shared with people who get as excited and responsive to the music as I do.

I'm part of weekly Zoom call with a great group of guys but they are spread out all over the country (and a couple out of the country).   I'm not bragging but I do have a world class system and a huge collection of LPs and CDs.

So if anyone out there is on Long Island and would like to share some listening experiences, respond to this post and we'll figure out how to chat off line.

I have this website, please excuse it as it’s under re-construction (it was platformex on WIX. Because WIX is based in Tel Aviv, and because I decided I must honor the BDS movement, I’m in the middle of moving it to Wordpress):

i live in a small city of 28,000. Newburgh, NY. About an hour drive north of the George Washington Bridge.

I do have guests. They are for the most part blown away by it when they first hear it. And yet for the most part they really don’t get it.

@orenstein

Brag about your world class system all you want. I want hear about other people's amazing  hifis and wish more of them would complete a virtual system. Everyone of them is unique and a reflection of their owner's audio journey. Of course, it's so much better to meet in person. Nevertheless, any sharing of this wonderful hobby worthwhile, even we are sometimes separated by oceans.

Brag about your world class system all you want.   ???

If that's what you thought I was doing, you completely missed the point.  I'm merely suggesting that I have a system that is worth listening to and was hoping that a fellow audiophile who lives nearby, might want to visit and listen to some great music together, perhaps with a fine dram of scotch as lubrication,  Ideally, I would visit his place as well and a friendship might develop founded on our peculiar hobby.

@oldrooney Re "Old Me Better"--saw Keb' Mo' at Humphrey's in San Diego about a month ago--of course the crowd demanded he sing it and of course he did, but he prefaced it by saying "This is a song i liked when i wrote it but I now hate it more than any other song i've ever written"--didn't elaborate but we were all thrilled he sang it 😀

On topic, this forum is a great way to share the "loneliness" of being an audiophile--i wish my wife would enjoy sitting in the music room and listening with me but maybe she wishes i would sit in her quilting room and watch her--best left unasked.
