Super slow loading - Ads?

Hey Admins/Owners:

Listen, I get that you need to monetize Audiogon somehow, that's fine, but as someone who worked in ad tech I think I see a problem which I hope I can help resolve.  Page loads are being blocked by ad loads.  It's especially bad on mobile.  In other words, the page loading time is now the sum of ad load time + audiogon content.  If ad loads take a long time ( and they vary by a lot depending on cookies, ad service, geo location, etc.) then the total page load time gets bad.

Please review your page load code to make your ad loads non-blocking.  That is, the page should load while the ads load in the background.  This is standard ad placement procedure.

Thank you.

Best,

I was about to post the same thing. In some cases I have gone elsewhere to find out information due to the load times. It is not just slow, I find it almost unusable in some cases. And this is fairly new, so something has changed. In addition to slow loading, my iPad was experiencing regular errors and page reloads. This would erase anything you might be typing in a forum response or in a note to a seller.

I recognize the need to monetize a site that offers a free forum, and I do appreciate the service. But in order to make the site usable on my iPad, I had to install an ad blocker. No more refreshes, however page load performance is still a challenge.

From a business perspective, I think this is worth investigating.

I recently installed an ad blocker, pop ups are getting more obnoxious by the day. Audiogon remains sluggish even with the ad blocker.

I use a desktop Mac Studio, and for the past few weeks, loading posts has been slow as molasses as well.

@all We are aware of the slowness in the forums and are proactively looking into the issue. Sorry for any inconvenience this is causing.

I am also seeing ads that load in the wrong place and block about 40% of the readable part of the forum.

They should also look at their recaptcha implementation as sometimes that will not load correctly and you have to reload the entire page.
