Soundsmith Zephyr lll retip

I did in fact call Soundsmith about this, and was told Peter would call me back.  As of today he hasn’t .   And that’s ok I’m sure he’s got a couple of things going on.  I decided on the stock rebuild they offer anyway.  Part of my confusion was kind of funny.  I don’t have a PC at home, so everything is done on my IPhone.  On my phone their website appears very different than on a PC.  I went to the library to run off their shipping label.  Wow what a beautiful website!  And the instructions were very clear.  On my phone I wasn’t sure how the process worked.  I’m sure someone understands how it would appear different.  But I did figure out the part about calling first.  Anyway…love the cartridge. Lots of enjoyable hours on it.

Hope your rebuild arrives in a timely fashion. I have a Sussurro in need. 

Read a recent owner report that his SS cartridge rebuild took 6 months to be completed, and have a friend who's still waiting on his after 4.5 months despite the estimate on their site being much more optimistic.

So a "rebuild" is the cantilever/stylus assembly is replaced, which means the cartridge is disassembled? 

Seems like a bargain for what seems a labor intensive procedure.

Are these the 2 types of retip-

1. Original cantilever remains and somehow the diamond stylus is removed/replaced? How the heck is that possible with such a delicate assembly?

Impressive, however it’s accomplished.

2. Original  cantilever/stylus is snipped near the motor and replacement cantilever/stylus is glued on.

Ive had a cart "retipped" this way.  No prior knowledge  how it was done. Cart returned  working, but thought  it was kinda cheezy. You could see the blob of glue at the stub/replacement union.
