Apogee Acoustics repair

So I found out that there is a repair facility in Nevada for this brand. www.truesoundworksaudio.com looks like a rebuild is $1,500.00 .

I have always liked the Slant 8 loudspeaker. That model was my gateway into Thiel Audio speakers.

Happy Listening!

Hello all,

When Apogee got bought out I was the Lead Contractor

running the move and actually followed that up by moving

Jason and Sarah to their new home in Manhattan.

They sold me 12”x 54” speakers presently mounted on the

verticals in my Post and Beam home. They threw in a pair

of prototypes roughly 12 x 14” that are recessed mounted

into my walls. The sound is Amazing to say the least.

Fast forward to the present day. I start my second battle

with Cancer this week. Not going to kill me but if you knew

what I lived through in the past 4 year battle you’d know

where I’m coming from.

Makes you consider the future and what is left behind.

These speakers will NOT be fully appreciated by my wife,

my children, or the next owner of my home. Reaching out

now and planning ahead. Making changes in the house now

and likely willing to part with them at some point to people

that know and appreciate true sound quality..

FYI... Mijostyn could be further from the truth. Apogees set up correctly with a nice front end of amplification and a good room will beat just about any loudspeaker available today.  The larger Apogees with the qualifications stated above will offer a much more satisfying sound quality than what Acoustat, Magnepan and Analysis Audio offers.  The Clarysis Robbon loudspeakers are an improvement on the Apogees but you will pay for that privilege dearly starting at $25,000 and up to $165,000 but they are truly spectacular.  A rebuilt pair of Apogees would impress you immeasurably and there will be no fiddling or dark clouds that others are saying. They only say that because that is what they have read on forums, lol.  If you want the real experience live music Apogee is a way to go.  I've had my original SG pair for 27 years and they still play perfectly.

I don't contribute often, but a few words as a 7 year owner of Apogee Scintillas followed by 35 years of Diva ownership might clarify questions about Apogee. Their sound is spectacular, essentially for classical, jazz and folk music. They are clear, very quick, with an impeccable soundstage and ability to throw a quad-like image (Roger Water, Amused to Death, Ballade of Bill Hubbard is astonishing!). Honestly, I thought the Scintillas were the most musically accurate speakers ever, but could play to modest volumes in a large room. I moved up to the Divas for volume and base, but did give a little in timber and voice. Driven by a pair of Krell KSA-150-s, I was in heaven. A velodyne sub added just enough foundational support for organ. After 24 years the right speaker woofer foam developed a buzz at about 60 Hz. Bill Thallman in VA did a wonder refurbish of the wires, cardas connectors, capacitors, etc. Graz ribbons replaced the old. The DAX was redone, too. Finally, after refinishing them in glossy grand piano finish, he delivered and set up the speakers. D'Agostino amps, JL subs x 2, Trinnov Amythyst pre-amp, dCS Rossini DAC/CD with clock and Roon is my digital end. I have a 31 year old air-bearing Lloyd Walker TT. And 2 years ago I added an AWOL 120 inch short throw laser project that retracts into a floor box when not in use - no screen in the way of pure 2.2 audiophile listening! That said, my Divas have been perfectly flawless for the first 24 years, and then since the were refurbished for $8k. The Divas have been a wonderful investment and have brought immeasureable musical joy! One day, I'll sell them to the right audiophile (I've lost much of my hearing from a bike tube explosion 3 years ago, but I can still appreciate them!). I'd hate to part with them. But with 35 years of beautiful service they are almost like a "living bff". I guess if you take care of them they can last many years. Abuse anything, or if poorly manufactured, you'll be disappointed. My Divas are could not have been a better investment! All the best to those who love their music and their systems!! A true blessing.
