Modwright PH 9.0X Tube Rolling Question

@blisshifi the tubes that were replaced were actually Reflektor 6H23N-EB`s no less.

The Reflektor 6C45`s are in there already 👍

Reviving a bit of an old thread here, but about to send my power supply in for the T upgrade and am looking into tubes...

The Philips 5R4GYS has been recommended to me as a superb replacement to the stock one that comes with the upgrade, but I can't seem to find any at a...rational price point. Anyone have any leads?

Now that it's a little more widespread with adoption, maybe others have some more input on alternatives that are great as well. I saw Raytheon 5AR4, NOS Mullard 5AR4...

Contact Kristen at Modwright, she has a list of recommended NOS tubes. I settled on a Amperex Bugleboy 5AR4 and a 1950's Mullard 5AR4.

I just updated to a T with the Truth umbilical cord and thought I would write this up.

First, the main unit I "upgraded" the Sovtek 6c45 to sn Electro Harmonix gold pin 6C45. I heard no difference. For the 6922's I run NOS Teles (E88CC).

For the T upgrade to the power supply, I didn't even plug in the Sovtek. I went with a GEC U52. 

The T with the tube (and cord) delivered an audible improvement which was:

-slightly better imaging 

-the soundstage comes into the room more - more "3D"

-a bit more realism overall, perhaps a slightly richer sound

I'm very happy with the T and tube I chose. I don't know if the cord did anything yet but plan to B2B to the old cord I've been running for the past 4-5 years sooner than later.
