NewOnTech Dac07 - Any Users Out There?

Hey everyone. Wondering if anyone has any experience with this DAC that Mike Powell has started distributing? Any comparisons?

Definitely need to hear more about how this dac stacks up against some others..There is a fella on head-fi raving about it, but he's listening through headphones, not speakers, so the impression is clearly different. He speaks highly of the dac though.

I would look into a better SPDIF; a used Grover Huffman Pharaoh or a Tchernov are the best sounding ones I have come across regardless of cost.

Those cables are hitting Way above their price point and I tried the Silnote as well...

Sorry I'm so late on the NewOnTech 07 DAC. Now that I've got a few hundred hours on mine. I was using Lumin T-2 through it's internal DAC. & there's no comparison. Changing USB cable to Curious also made a big difference. I tend not to go by U-tubers recommendations, but Mike powell's for the NewOnTeck DAC & Puritan 156 was two of my best audio choices I've ever made.

Purchased the DAC07 directly from Mike during his last trip to Miami. He took the time/effort to come to my house to audition this modestly priced dac. Comparing to previous dacs I’ve owned in this price range (holo spring, audio analogue, auralic) this DAC07 has it’s own voice; not clinical or relentlessly resolving but rather organic, natural, organized soundstage and forever musical. It is a no brainer at 2k and competes thousands higher. Holo Spring KTE sounded great but a bit sterile for me and I hated the loose buttons, clunky interface. Audio Analogue is also a value pick and would best the DAC07 for many but using the filters and programming is not user friendly and I like to mix/ match between systems. Bottom line for me as a traditional 2channel addict, the DAC07 is very satisfying and keeps the listener interested with its presentation, great separation and layered/deliberate soundstage. Operation is stupid simple so I can get to the music, past the gear! Looking forward to what Mike P brings next, will be doing business again.
