Roon hq player

Hi I use a t+a sd 3100 hv dac connected to a wolf audio red wolf 2 sx streamer  via a nordost Valhalla 2 usb cable . I use roon and play dsd 512 files thru this.

Techs at t+ a recommended using the roon hq player upsampling audio to dsd 1024 to achieve the best sound from the sd 3100 hv .

My wolf and other streamers like taiko and innuos don’t have the computing power to run roon hq player and upsample to dsd 1024 .

They recommend building a super computer for audio with a powerful processor, audio and video card which would require a big box, power supply and fans. They recommend installing this along with the nas in a separate room from the sound system and hooking it to my dac via the home network .This they say playing roon hq will beat any stand alone streamer cause of the functionality of the roon hq player.

Does anyone have experience comparing roon with roon hq.

Is this supercomputer going to be an upgrade or will it be decrimental to the sound.

Thanks in advance

Audiophile Style forum has a huge thread on hqplayer.  I'm sure. You would get more response to your question there.  They discuss computer builds and up sampling.

@jgoldrick i looked at the forum and I couldn’t find any comparison between a computer playing roon hq vs a high end streamer playing roon

we were a long time t=A dealer and we have an sdv 3100 on display

we have used many servers with the dac we have run both jriver and roon

we have tested many servers including the baetis memory player the innous statement and the 432evo servers

the better the server the better the sound no matter the upsampling

the dsd conversion helps tame overly analytical systems however the better the server the more analog like the sound even without dsd conversion

We tested the Baetis runniing jriver uo converting to dsd

the memory player running jriver

the innous statement and the 432evo aeon and Master

long story short the innoussounded slightly better the the other two until we got the 432evo Aeon and Maater.

trying to build a music super computer that sounds as good as a wolf innous oe Evo will be very difficult there are a lot more things going on too make them sound good

@audiotroy

that’s what I had believed too, till I heard from experts from t+a.

I guess I will have to try it and then compare it with the wolf and see which sounds better to me in my room.
