Who's an artist that you're a fan of but whose name you're not sure how to pronounce?

I remember when Sufjan Stevens was starting out I heard several pronunciations of his name and almost every article about him tried to clarify it, but it wasn't until I saw him and he said "Hi, I'm Sufjan Stevens" that I was sure how to pronounce it.

Bon Iver, Rae Sremmurd, Sigur Ros, and the Notwist have been other artists over the years who I haven't been sure how to pronounce.

Who are some artists whose names you haven't been sure how to pronounce?

Yes, I like Rautavaara too, but I would not dare try to utter his first name. The same goes for the English composer Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji. Even the names of his works can be a bit daunting (not to mention the length and complexity of most of his works. I particularly like his piano piece "Opus Clavicembalisticum" but I can never listen to it completely in one sitting (over four hours long).

I own all Sorabji pieces...

My deepest respect to you...

I was once told by a guy who supposedly knew Hungarian that "Nyiregyhazi" was pronounced near-uh-JAHZ-ee.  BTW, I prize myself for being able to properly pronounce most of the world's languages I come across. But I was pretty much  a failure when I traveled to Hungary. And yeah, I have Ervin's double LP of Liszt-ian meanderings.

@dekay  Nice, you win.

The artist formerly known as Prince, The Purple One, The Artist. Or none of the above.

I met Prince 2-3 times in the mid 90’s on Sunset Strip in West Hollywood outside Book Soup (super book store - with an adjacent great magazine kiosk).

Didn’t recognize him @ first as he had short/natural hair, but figured it out fairly quickly once we started talking about where we were both raised (Des Moines for me) plus other stuff.

I was waiting for my wife shopping @ BS and Tower Records was across the street.

Think we first talked about how I ended up attending more MN concerts once Interstate I35 was completed (easy/timely access to MN/SP when I was in high school) and we also talked about those concerts in detail.

When we went over to Tower he spent most of his time in the classical section.

When I complained about parking he said that he walked, so assume that he had a place close by.

We always went there on Saturday or Sunday afternoon (pretty much weekly) as my wife worked nights M-F and I had Saturday or Sunday afternoons off on a regular basis.

Met a lot of celeb’s in the 45 years I’ve lived here, but he was probably the most normal/relaxing one I’ve spent brief time with.
