Yes, cymbals do work. I have a 16" medium crash on a plate stand between mine, and it slightly increases a perception of openness as well as center image focus. I use it with the top of the bell facing me.

Cymbal will be better than brass bowl but too much expansive.... 😁😊

It didn't cost me any extra because I have a drum set.

It was what i think and it was what i would have do if i  already owned a set of cymbals...

Brass bowls was a less efficient but anyway interesting option...

Interesting topic.  I’ve seen people experiment with all kinds of instruments in the room, including placing violins / acoustic guitars and other string instruments on the front wall.  Obviously some methods are more expensive than others, kinda depends on what you may own.  Would be interested to read more about what has worked best for people.
