Sub questions

I have a sub (soon to be 2) that has the option of front firing or down firing. When I got it, it was already set up for down and I never bothered to try front. Does anyone have a strong opinion either way?

Also....the floors in my house are all ceramic tile. If I keep them down firing, would I benefit from putting small rugs under them?

If it matter, subs are run at very low volume and crossed around 60 hz (still dialing things in in a new room and with a new amp).

What say you?

front firing has always sounded better to my ears and room.  martin logan?  i owned some for a while.  sounded best projecting into the room.

I have down firing subs(HSU) in my listening room. The room has HW floors. I do have small pieces of carpet under each sub. I found it better for my room, and ears. @johnnycamp5 summed it up. Enjoy the new sub. What ever you end up doing, I think you’ll be much happier with two subs.

I have a Martin Logan Dynamo 700 subwoofer that I have setup in the forward firing configuration.  Whenever it's been in the down firing configuration it would literally move around on my laminate floor.  When I put spikes on it the subfloor would literally vibrate with the volume turned up.  It's generally turned down low enough that it matters little, but I can get a lot more volume without house rattling when forward facing.
