DbPoweramp Rip

Hello experts

I have been using DbPoweramp to rip about 600 CDs (have many more to go).

When I play the FLAC version on my DAC it shows incoming sampling frequency

is 44KHZ. I am wondering if my rip setting is correct before ripping more or rerip

the CDs for higher sampling rate.

Thanks in advance for your help and happy holidays

dhlesg, what are you thinking the sampling frequency should be?  The native resolution of CDs is 44.1 KHz/16 bit.  If I remember correctly, dbPoweramp has the ability to resample the rip to a higher (or lower) rate using the DSP add-in section but I don't think you would gain anything by doing this (it wouldn't hurt anything to try it though) and the size of the files would go up. Hi Dick,

Frankly I do not know if the sound quality is better if it recorded at a higher sampling rate. For sure the size is bigger but I have spaces in the HD. The reference BMC DAC1 shows the input from 44 to 196 kHz accordingly.

Will change to a higher sampling rate to hear if there is any difference.
Thanks
Well, sound quality will be affected by everything from the quality of the original recording to the remastering (if applicable) and finally the resolution of the playback system so sampling rate is not a guarantee of good sound.  For CDs, you're starting with a 16-bit/44.1K recording so resampling to a higher sample rate and bit depth cannot add any information to what is there.  I don't think you'll get anything but a larger file out of the process :) but there are some who disagree.  As I said above, it doesn't hurt to try.  Let your ears be the judge.
