Tannoy Prestige vs Kingdom

Hi, can any of you tell the difference between Tannoy's Prestige and Kingdom line? Which line is more "audiophile"? I've seen the (now out of production) Kingdom 18 and it is huge!

The current line of Tannoy Prestige speakers are the more audiophile of your choices. The Kingdom's are more colored sounding, meaning a slightly bloated mid bass and a bit of honk in the midrange. As you also know the Kingdom's, if you can find the, are huge and require a large space fo optimum loading. The Prestige are more neutral sounding. I don't know how big your iistening room is but I'd recommend the 10" models to start for an average-sized room. I have the Turnberry's and love them.

Chris,

I've used both and alternate tubes and solid state all of the time. The best tube I've owned is the Jadis DA50S. The trick with tubes is find an amp with excellent bass control. I also have a primaluna Dialogue 2 with KT66's. It does quite well too. For solid state I've used LFD, Anatek Research, Naim and Linn. Right now I'm using Linn.
