Rank Stereophile, & why no Von Schweikert reviews

I read Stereophile, but I consider it to be entertainment. Most entertaining to me is the "letters to the editor" section. Seems to me TAS is becoming a Stereophile. Everfything that both rags reviews is "great!". Guess there's no mediocre equipment out there.

No magazine can review every piece of high end gear made. It is simply not possible. Jependleton is right, they only review the gear that is sent to them.

Art Dudley's column is one of the only redeaming features that keeps me subscribing to Stereophile. I also like the music reviews and interviews. I prefer TAS though for the monthly centerfold and full-on wet IEC outlet shot.

PS Rumor in the industry is that Von Schweikert's speakers don't "put out" so the Stereophile editors blackballed'em.

Check out the online magazine, "Stereo Times", for VSA speaker reviews. At last look they had reviewed five different pairs over the past few years. You can find these in Archives.

A lot of manufacturers don't want to be reviewed by Stereophile because they know their products will not show well in John Atkinson's measurements. So they go for magazines where there are no numbers to compete with a subjective reviewer's predictably ga-ga prose.
